We did so many great trips out to both hostels/huts and we also camped quite a few times which was a first for us in the winter. Was it easy? I wouldn't say so. Not with a child. However saying it was hard doesn't mean it wasn't worth it. As a matter of fact we don't plan on stopping our winter adventures. We are already planning for next winter and its going to be another epic one!
Key for winter adventures with children? Be prepared for the worse.
Plan for the weather to be horrible, give yourselves more time, don't be rushed into doing anything, plan for a distance or a trail but make back up plans, don't over estimate the sleeping bears (Be prepared to see other animals, give them room and know what to do!) and lastly don't be afraid of cold weather. If you are well dressed and have ways to warm up things should go smoothly!
Now I wish everyone an amazing summer and in the meantime get out and enjoy spring! Happy Trails!
