Going camping at Preachers point, one of my favorite that is very family friendly. Now that we have a trailer it's much easier to get out there all of us. Don't get me wrong, I used to be the girl camping in a one person tent alone and I loved every minute of it and as much as I want to show that side to my daughter, I also really enjoy traveling
with the trailer.
Preachers point is a great spot near Abraham Lake/David Thompson resort. It's usually fairly quiet if not there on a long weekend, it's in the mountains and its free! We arrived, set up, few too many glasses of wine, a spectacular northern light show (I lay down on the grass for a while and admire the beauty of nature and then finally bedtime.
At around 2am I woke up a lite tipsy still and heard some sounds outside....and then Bam Bam shake shake the trailer. So I start screaming (perhaps it was the wine) really angry I suggest it's a bear and I'll just go kick it's butt. Thankfully it was the wind storm picking up the awning and shaking the crap out of the trailer. Oops. Good I guess I don't have to kick some bears ass.
I was pretty happy to get off my butt and actually run. Maybe next time training the dog a little better would work? He is coming with me from now on!
By the time I got back from the run everyone had left. I had no key and was pretty thirsty. Had access to nothing but twisted ice tea...post workout drink? Ha! Awesome day in the rockies!
I can truly say I had never seen such beautiful scenery in the area. Everytime I go its cloudy and lets just say my Athabasca summit last summer was even more then cloudy!
We were lucky! We were able to continue past Wilcox pass, climb a little but obviously again, didn't make it to the summit. But I won't complain, I had my family and it was a beautiful day! I was at least able to look at Mt. Andromeda and dream of one of my next climb!
Unfortunately back at the camp it was already time to start thinking about packing a bit for the next day! I had an amazing long weekend!!!
