I am so very excited about the year ahead and all the fun that it will bring. For all of us and for little (not so little anymore) MJ who is just has anxious as I am to get out and explore.
What's in store for the new year?
- We already started the year on the right track, with plenty of adventures for the rest of the winter we certainly won't have time to hear "I'm Bored"
- From Ice waterfalls, ice climbing, canyons, snowshoeing trips all over BC and Alberta, Cross country ski trips which I am thrilled about, and more winter camping trips we are going to be all over the map!
Want some Highlights?
Taylor Lake (for a 2nd year in a row)
We plan on doing a early trip to the lake, hopefully by then instead of mosquitoes it will be snow.
We had a great time at the lake but needed to go back to truly enjoy it. You can read about our previous trip to Taylor Lake here.
Again early in the year we plan on staying at the hut and truly enjoying the area. We hope to make it twice this year, once later in the year camping instead. Lake O'Hara is so beautiful and we can't wait to explore the trails.
Which involves us flying a helicopter to camp and backpack back!
This will be one of our biggest backpacking trip of the year with over 30km of hiking in the area.
My girl has always celebrated her birthday in the mountains hiking and exploring. She is truly going to enjoy the Bow Hut and I have no problem carrying the cake ;)
A week long trip where the scenery is sure to give us goosebumps! This is going to be the biggest backpacking trip of the year where we plan on hiking a min of 50km around the area.
Trip to Squamish
Really looking forward to this trip and really could use some tips on the best and Must see places around the area! We are staying a week in and around Squamish.
Iceline Trail (again for a 2nd year in a row)
We will be going back on the Iceline trail, hoping this year for better weather (perhaps sunshine and no snow or rain!) We also plan on cutting it shorter and make it in 2 days. Previous Trip Here
This trip is going to be a lot of fun, we can't wait to share the fun with other families. It is so nice to meet others with the same passion. I think Tanya of Family Adventures in the Canadian Rockies really saved us from always doing everything alone and I am really looking forward to all the fun to have this summer with them as well as the other great families I am meeting along the way! This trip will be later this year with hopefully some nice fall colors and lots of beautiful Larch trees!
We plan on doing Shadow lake later in the year. When the rush of summer as faded and this might perhaps even be a early snow trip.
And many many more adventures.....
