The night prior we left town and drove the David Thompson highway. I seen for the first time the damage from the fire. Wow. It's insane, especially how close it got the the warden's place at Saskatchewan River Crossing. We arrived at Mosquito Creek late and there wasn't any site, I had to set up my tent in parking lot.... Interesting for sure. I couldn't justify paying for that. I did, I obviously don't need problems with parks! At least they let us use the fire for food in shelter. Which made me happy, after cooking we just retreated to our parking lot camping.
At 5am I woke up, a bit chilly, my car says it's -2c and yes there's ice on my tent. We pack up, eat and leave. We decide to have a better breakfast at Moraine Lake and watch the sunrise (one of my favourite) and it was worth it!!Except for the squirrel who stole my daughters strawberries, from her hands!
We got to Taylor Lake and started getting our pack ready, my bestfriend was to meet us and for the first time I just couldn't get ready, I was slow, couldn't get it right, and simply frustrated. Why? I was so excited for this trip! We left the parking lot and started the hike, everything went smoothly, except my daughter got tired half way (probably from waking up so early) and she had to stop to take a power nap. Let me tell you, I'll take power naps any day before a winning child ;) We arrived Taylor Lake in afternoon. Beautiful place. Only downside. Lots and lots of bugs. The kind that bite you regardless of the spray you use. We set up camp, had dinner, chilled for a bit and our bed were calling us.... Very early. By then I just felt off and knew something was up, I knew i shouldn't be there, I didn't know why, but I had that strong feeling.
I woke up early morning and knew, I knew I had a problem with pregnancy, and I knew it was not because of the hike and all, I hurried up and packed everything and headed back down as soon as possible. Unfortunately I had to cut my trip short. But I truly am just lucky nothing happened while out in the backcountry as I was later administer in hospital from having an ectopic pregnancy.
This has been really hard on me, we really want another little one and the past year have been really hard with many let downs. But I am also aware that I have many blessings including my wonderful daughter, who may I add, hiked up to Taylor, camped and hiked back down without Any problems!!! She rocks.
